You couldn’t possibly be an earlier adopter than Morgantown Community Church, a church in Elverson, Pennsylvania with an average attendance of 400 people. After a Google search result pointed DJ Grick, Youth Pastor / Director of Media and Technology, to Rock RMS as a potential church management solution, he did a little digging and figured out how to download and install Rock about a week before the beta was officially released.

Leaders set the direction for their organizations and Lakeside Christian Church is no exception. With an inclination toward technology and the standard set of ministry problems to solve, Lakeside Christian Church’s Director of Administration, Dave Brown, has overseen the implementation of several new applications. From a technology perspective, Dave is kept on his toes. He reports to a lead pastor who is as much at home with Web and SQL development as he is with leading a church to have significant impact in the local community.

All good things must come to an end, or so we've all heard. And apparently MailChimp subscribes to that theory, as well. As the original developers of Mandrill, the email plug-in currently built into Rock, MailChimp has just announced a change that could affect a lot of us.

We need each other. A book published a few years ago for churches about social media and the journey from paper publishing to Google points out that churches (and all groups) are much less successful in attracting and keeping members if they don’t provide equally for their members to receive something of value and to contribute something of value. That’s true, but we’d don’t think we can stop there. Here are the four reasons we believe we need community and how we’ve built it into Rock RMS.
